English Language Arts Teacher

The East Bay German International School offers preschool through eighth grade programs. Our integrated curriculum combines German and English instruction with project-based learning and individualized attention to each student. We offer exceptional academics, a diverse international perspective, and a vibrant school community.

For the 2020/2021 school year, we are looking for a dedicated and reliable English Language Arts teacher for our elementary and middle school programs.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Arts, preferably related to English Language Arts, and ideally ahigher-level degree in education
  • California teaching credential or equivalent
  • Two years or more of English Language Arts teaching and classroom experience
  • Experience with differentiated teaching
  • Experience in international school setting
  • Experience with or openness to interdisciplinary project-based work

Early Childhood Teacher


We seek a committed and reliable teacher for our preschool/kindergarten program for the 2019/2020 school year (40h/wk).

Requirements:

  • Completed studies with BA in early childhood education or a closely related field
  • At least 2 years post-graduation experience working with preschool or kindergarten-aged children, ideally in a multilingual environment
  • Very good language and communication skills in German and English
  • High level of social competence and ability to work in a team
  • Strong willingness to encourage, promote and document child development and learning
  • Positive and constructive attitude in working with children and their families
  • Brings a high level of intercultural sensitivity and competence to interpersonal relationships and education work

Job Profile:

We seek a teacher for our preschool (children aged 2 and up) and kindergarten. In addition to daily teaching responsibilities, our faculty participate in regular planning activities in relation to project work, parent-teacher conferences, information evenings for parents on education and childrearing topics, workshops for professional development, and employee meetings regarding all aspects of school life (e.g. students’ transition to elementary school; school-wide festivities) and school development. Our teachers’ in-depth knowledge of child development and their pedagogical and interpersonal skills enable them not only to carry out day-to-day instruction of students but also equip them to provide thoughtful support and guidance with respect to child development and learning processes. Teachers contribute their own insights and ideas within a continuous exchange among the faculty and school management, thereby helping to shape the further development of our school as a successful educational institution.

Eingangsstufe und Kindergarten

Wir suchen zum Schuljarh 2019/2020 engagierte und zuverlässige Pädagogen/innen für die Bereiche Eingangsstufe und Kindergarten (40 Stunden pro Woche).

Voraussetzungen:

  • Abgeschlossenes Studium als Kindheitspädagogin/Kindheitspädagoge (BA) bzw. Pädagogin/Pädagoge der frühen Kindheit (BA)
  • Mindestens 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung mit Kindern im Kleinkind- oder Kindergartenalter nach abgeschlossenem Studium – idealerweise in einem mehrsprachigen Umfeld
  • Sehr gute Sprachkenntnisse und kommunikative Fähigkeiten im Deutschen und Englischen
  • Hohes Maß an Sozialkompetenz und Kooperationsfähigkeit innerhalb des Teams

Tätigkeitsprofil:

Gesucht werden Pädagogen/innen für den Einsatz in der Eingangsstufe (ab 2 Jahren) und im Kindergarten. Über die konkrete pädagogische Arbeit in der Kindergruppe hinaus bringen sich unsere Mitarbeiter bei regelmäßigen Planungsaktivitäten in Bezug auf Projektarbeit, Elternsprechtage, Informationsabende für Eltern zu Erziehungs- und Bildungsthemen, Workshops zur professionellen Weiterbildung, und Mitarbeitertreffen im Rahmen der Gestaltung des allgemeinen Schullebens (z.B. Einschulung, Festivitäten) und der Schulentwicklung ein. Durch ihr fundiertes Entwicklungswissen, ihre pädagogischen Fertigkeiten und ausgeprägten personalen Kompetenzen gewährleisten sie neben grundlegenden Betreuungsaufgaben auch die sensible Unterstützung und Begleitung kindlicher Entwicklungs- und Bildungsprozesse. Preschool Aide


We seek a committed and reliable part-time aide for our preschool/kindergarten program starting as soon as possible (19h/week).

Requirements:

  • Preferably 2 years of experience working with preschool or kindergarten-aged children, ideally in a multilingual environment
  • Certification in child first aid and CPR
  • High level of social competence and ability to work in a team
  • Very good language and communication skills in English (and ideally German)
  • Positive and constructive attitude in working with colleagues, children, and their families
  • Brings a high level of intercultural sensitivity and competence to interpersonal relationships and education work
  • Willingness to creatively plan and implement individualized support for children
  • Learning skills and readiness for self-reflection and continuous development of one’s own abilities as an educator


Job Profile:

We seek an aide for our preschool (children aged 2 and up) and kindergarten. In addition to supporting the daily program activities, our aides assist teachers in readying the classroom for activities and meals, help children with potty training and developing their fundamental self-help skills, as needed. All our classroom faculty exhibits pedagogical and interpersonal skills that enable them not only to carry out day-to-day instruction of students but also equip them to provide thoughtful support and guidance with respect to child development and learning processes.

Internship at EBGIS


Internships at EBGIS are available in our Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School Programs for prospective teachers who have completed foundational coursework (Grundstudium) and candidates working towards their degree in early childhood education (Anerkennungspraktikum).

The minimum duration of an internship at EBGIS is 5 to 6 months in Elementary and Middle School, beginning in August or January. Internships in our Early Childhood Program (Anerkennungspraktikum) span a full school year (August - June).

EBGIS cooperates with accredited visa sponsors to obtain the required visas for our interns. We support our interns with a monthly stipend. Travel and living accommodations are to be organized independently by interns.

Praktika an der EBGIS

Praktika an der EBGIS sind grundsätzlich im Früh-, Grundschul- und Sekundarstufenbereich für Studenten/innen mit abgeschlossenem Grundstudium und angehende staatlich anerkannte Erzieher/innen (Anerkennungspraktikum) im Rahmen ihrer Ausbildung möglich.

Die Mindestdauer für ein Praktikum an der EBGIS beträgt in der Grund- und Sekundarstufe 5 bis 6 Monate, beginnend jeweils im August oder Februar. Ein Anerkennungspraktikum im Frühbereich erstreckt sich über ein volles Schuljahr (August - Juni).

Für das Praktikum ist ein Visum erforderlich und die EBGIS kooperiert hierzu mit anerkannten Visa-Sponsoren. Wir unterstützen unsere Praktikanten mit einer monatlichen Aufwandsentschädigung. Anreise und Unterkunft sind von allen Praktikanten selbstverantwortlich zu organisieren.
