An Investment in Your Child’s Future
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most significant decisions you will make as a parent.
At the East Bay German International School (EBGIS) and the East Bay International High School (EBIHS), we are dedicated to providing a language-centric, inquiry-driven education that prepares students to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage meaningfully in a globalized world. Our unique approach combines German and English instruction through grade eight with a focus on cultural understanding, project-based learning, and fostering compassionate, well-rounded individuals. Our English-instruction high school program culminates in the International Baccalaureate Programme, offering opportunities for students in English, German, French and Spanish.
Families of EBGIS and EBIHS students consistently share that the investment in their child’s education has been transformative, even for those families that have only visited for a short time. It’s an investment in academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning — an investment that empowers students to reach their fullest potential.

Our school excels in bilingual education, cultural immersion, and academic rigor, fostering a love for learning and global awareness. My children are benefitting so much from compassionate and dedicated teachers that create a nurturing environment from preschool through high school. Our family has been here for several programs! Community events like Lanternfest and Weihnachtsmarkt enrich the school’s culture, blending German and American traditions. EBGIS provides a well-rounded, academically challenging education that prepares students to be global citizens.
EBGIS Family
We were so grateful our daughter could attend EBGIS on short notice during our six-week stay in Berkeley. From the start, the school was incredibly responsive and provided all the information we needed, even arranging a Zoom call to answer our questions. The school offered a safe, welcoming atmosphere, and the small class sizes allowed her to quickly connect with teachers and students. Teachers even supported her Swiss school curriculum. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for our daughter.
